M.V. Nabozhenko & K. Matsumoto. 2021. New data on diagnostics and distribution of the little-known comb-clawed beetle Cornucistela serrata (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae: Alleculinae). Zoosystematica Rossica, 30(1): 8-12.

Abstract

Additional diagnostic characters of the little-known alleculine species Cornucistela serrata Campbell, 1980 are discussed. Variability of ocular index, a character widely used in the systematics of Alleculinae, is demonstrated. The distribution of C. serrata is amended; the species is known from the central part of Saudi Arabia and not from western provinces of the country as previously thought. A corrected key to species of Cornucistela Campbell, 1980 is given.

Abstract

Trachypteryx electrica sp. nov. is described from West Kazakhstan. The new species significantly differs from other species of the genus Trachypteryx Ragonot, 1893 in the female genitalia: the ductus bursae is strongly reduced and the diverticulum is absent. Two species of the subgenus Bazaria Ragonot, 1887 of the genus Gymnancyla Zeller, 1848, G. turanica sp. nov. and G. latialata sp. nov., are described from the Kyzylorda Province of Kazakhstan. Christophia constricta sp. nov. is described from the same locality. The male and female genitalia are illustrated for all species described.

A.G. Kirejtshuk, U. Roosileht & A.V. Kovalev. 2021. First record of the genus Colopterus (Coleoptera: Nitidulidae) from Estonia and the designation of a neotype of C. truncatus. Zoosystematica Rossica, 30(2): 169–174.

Abstract

A sap beetle of the genus Colopterus, collected in the Estonian village of Vinni near the border between Estonia and the Leningrad Province, was identified as Colopterus sp. For fixation of the taxonomic interpretation established in the PhD thesis by L.E. Watrous without complying with the requirements of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature, and in order to avoid probable further mistakes, a neotype for C. truncatus (Randall, 1838) is designated.

Sk. Yamane, S. Hosoishi & S. Syaukani. 2021. Taxonomic notes on rattan-inhabiting ants of the genus Camponotus (Hymenoptera: Formicidae). Zoosystematica Rossica, 30(2): 175–182.

Abstract

Camponotus megalonyx Wheeler, 1919 is an ant species nesting in rattan and represents the single member of the subgenus Myrmopalpella Stärcke, 1934. Camponotus (Tanaemyrmex) dracocephalus Stitz, 1938, syn. nov., described from a queen with a strangely shaped head is synonymised with C. megalonyx, based on the comparison of a queen from Sabah (Borneo), associated with a worker of C. megalonyx, with the images of the holotype of C. dracocephalus. Comparison of the type of C. dracocephalus with queens of other species from the subgenus Tanaemyrmex Ashmead, 1905 clearly confirms that this species should be excluded from the subgenus. Relationship of the species of the subgenus Myrmoplatys Forel, 1916, also inhabitants of rattans, with C. (Myrmopalpella) megalonyx is briefly discussed. Based on a number of characters of the worker and queen, C. (Myrmoplatys) korthalsiae concilians Forel, 1915 is upgraded to specific rank. An illustrated redescription of C. concilians stat. promotus is given.

A.A. Novikov & E.B. Fefilova. 2021. Morphology of the cephalothorax integument of Bryocamptus pygmaeus (Copepoda: Harpacticoida: Canthocamptidae), based on a new research method. Zoosystematica Rossica, 30(2): 320–330.

Abstract

The number and location of sensilla and pores of the cephalothorax integument of the species Bryocamptus pygmaeus (G.O. Sars, 1863) (Copepoda, Canthocamptidae) were studied for the first time on the material from several European regions: the southeastern part of the Bolshezemelskaya tundra (Nenets Autonomous District), the north of the Komi Republic, the Republic of Karelia, and the central part of European Russia (Udmurt Republic). In the samples examined, two groups of populations differing in the characters of cephalothorax integument were recognised. These differences were found to correlate with the variability of the endopod of fourth pair of female legs, which bears four setae in specimens of the eastern form, while a specimen examined from Karelia has five setae. Pore maps are composed for both groups of morphotypes. A statistical analysis was carried out based on a new technique using three-dimensional models of the cephalothorax. As a result of this analysis, a high similarity between individuals of the eastern form and differences of the latter from the Karelian specimen were revealed.

D.R. Kasparyan. 2021. Two new species of the genera Acerastes and Messatoporus (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae: Cryptini) from Mexico. Zoosystematica Rossica, 30(2): 331–338.

Abstract

Two species of the tribe Cryptini (Hymenoptera: Icneumonidae: Cryptinae), Acerastes nervellatus sp. nov. and Messatoporus atratus sp. nov., are described from Mexico. It is shown that Neotropical species of the genera Messatoporus Cushman, 1929 (90 species) and Polycyrtus Spinola, 1840 (155 species) in North and South Americas are mostly different, and only 2–6% of the species of these genera occur in both faunas. It suggests a high degree of isolation of these faunas from each other.
