Histological preparations of pogonophorans (Pogonophora, Annelida) |

The collection contains permanent histological preparations of serial sections and whole mounts and temporary preparations of various body regions of pogonophorans living in different regions of the World Ocean. The preparations of each species (various numbers of microscope slides) are stored in separate numbered slide boxes in special storage cabinets located in the Laboratory of Evolutionary Morphology of the Zoological Institute RAS. Each slide is labelled with all essential identifying information. The collection includes whole mount and serial-sectioned histological preparations stained using classical histological techniques: Mallory’s trichrome, iron hematoxylin, azocarmine and Heidenhain's azan, and unstained preparations mounted in glycerol-gelatin. This collection is intended for those students, scientists and teachers who want to learn more about the external morphology and internal structure of pogonophorans. This collection also contains a number of type specimens. |
