Об обстоятельствах передачи коллекции бабочек великого князя Николая Михайловича Зоологическому музею в Санкт-Петербурге

Резюме

В работе рассмотрены обстоятельства передачи в 1899–1900 гг. Зоологическому музею Императорской Академии наук в Санкт-Петербурге крупнейшей коллекции бабочек, собранной великим князем Николаем Михайловичем Романовым за 26 лет. Дар был совершен при условии, что коллекция сохранит название жертвователя; что при ней, ввиду ее обширности, будет находиться особый хранитель; что она останется неприкосновенной и без пополнений, кроме могущих поступить видов из пределов Российской империи; что она будет доступна для работ ученых и специалистов, интересующихся этой отраслью. Два требования были добавлены чуть позже. Коллекцию следовало хранить в тех же шкафах, что были у великого князя. Хранителем должен был быть оставлен Отто Герц с предоставлением ему должности старшего зоолога, с зачетом времени работы у великого князя. Основные источники — протоколы заседаний Физико-Математического отделения Императорской Академии наук, отчеты музея, книги поступлений из научного архива Зоологического института РАН, материалы Санкт-Петербургского филиала архива РАН и Российского государственного исторического архива.
