The paper concerns the structure of genitalia of female mosquitoes of the genus Aedes Meig. of the subgenera Ochlerolaius L.-Arrib., Finlaya Theob., Stegomyia Theob., Aedes Meig. and Aedimorphus Theob.
The taxonomic characters of the above subgenera can be used in future for determination of the species to which females of bloodsucking mosquitoes belong.


A new species of mosquitoes, Aedes stramineus sp. n. (Diptera, Culicidae). P. 408-413.
A new species of bloodsucking mosquitoes, Aedes (Ochlerolatus) stramineus, belongs to the group Ae. caspius. Adults of this species differ from other members of this complex in having no dorsal and abdominal pattern. By the structure of hypopygium the new species differs from Ae. campestris in two basal setae, from Ae. melanimon and Ae. caspius dorsalis in the absence of dilation of wings of the claspettes, and from Ae. c. caspius in having slender branches of gonocoxite and in the location of internal basal seta above the pilose portion of the lobe. Larvae differ from those of close species in having 4 to 6 branched internal frontal hairs. Ae. stramineus differs from other species of the group Ae. caspius by monocyclic development.


On the subdivision of the genus Culicoides Latr. (Diptera, Ceratopogonidae) into subgenera. P. 414-417.
Species of biting midges of the genus Culicoides occurring in the Soviet Union can be assigned to the genera Trithecoides (2), Pontоculicoides (4), Avaritia (8), Culicoides (9), Oecacta (73), Beltranmyia (12), and Monoculicoides (5) (the number of species recorded from the USSR is given in brackets). Keys to the subgenera and their brief characteristics are given.


Distribution of sand flies in natural nidi of cutaneous leishmaniasis in Turkmenia. P. 418-422.
The paper presents data on the distribution of 12 species of sand flies in burrows of rodents in different landscape zones of Turkmenia. It was established that in sand landscapes of plain Turkmenia Phlebotomus andrejevi dominates whereas in the northern part of the Kopet-Dag plain situated at the foot of the mountain Sergentomyia arpaklensis is most abundant; Ph. grimmi is typical for Anterior Asiatic elevations. The effect of deserts upon the front ridges of Kopet-Dag, which are directed to the north, creates favourable conditions for a great variety of sand flies fauna in various parts of the foothill zone.


On taxonomic status of Wilhelmia avetjanae Rubz. et Tert. (Diptera, Simuliidae). P. 423-432.
The paper presents a comparative morphological and karyological analysis of Wilhelmia avetjanae Rubz. et Tert. and W. equina L. It was established that differences between these species are not sufficient enough to recognize W. avetjanae as a distinct species. W. avetjanae is supposed to be a geographical race or subspecies of W. equina. The obtained data are a good evidence for the existence of seasonal differences within W. equina.


The infestation of zebu and buffaloes with the warble fly in Azerbaijan. P. 433-436.
In Azerbaijan warble flies infest cattle, zebu of all ages and youngs of buffaloes. In the zebu breeding region only Hypoderma bovis De Geer occurs. Buffaloes are infested with this species only though another species, H. lineatum De Villers, was recorded from the regions where the buffalo stock is concentrated.

The authors specify the conception of obligate, facultative and occasional nidi-toly. For the first time the conception of "plase" nidicoly is suggested.
204 species of arthropods of Crustacea, Chelicerata, «Myriapoda», and Insecta were found on gerbils and in their burrows in the northern Kizil-Kum. 34 species are most numerous (the index of abundance is more than 10), two of them, Xenopsylla gerbilli caspica Ioff (Siphonaptera) and Hirstionyssus meridianus Zem. (Gamasoidea) are dominant. Bloodsucking and schizophagous arthropods, the initial links of trophic rows, exceed entomophages in number but have fewer species.

Montchadskyella intestinale gen. et sp. n., a new member of endoparasitic monogeneans. P. 451-457.
The paper describes a new species of monogeneans from the intestine of two species of marine fishes, Paristiopterus gallipavo Whit. and Zanclistius elevatus (Ram. et Ogil.) (fam. Histiopteridae, Perciformes). The newly described species is close in its structure to members of the fam. Monocotylidae but differs from them in some peculiar characters. Due to these characters the species cannot be assigned to the above family and is recognized as a member of a new family, Montchadskyellidae fam. n.
Substantiation and diagnosis of the new family as well as diagnosis of the genus Montchadskyella gen. n. with the single type species are given.


New monogeneans, Quilonella ventrosa gen. et sp. n. and their position in the system. P. 458-465.
The paper describes new monogeneans from the horse mackerel, Tachurus tachurus, caught off the southwestern coast of India (near the town of Quilon). Quilonella ventrosa differs from other gastrocotyloid monogeneans in the structure and location of clamps on the haptor and peculiar structure of the male genitalia. The genital apparatus of such type was not recorded in other gastrocotyloids including Gephyrocotyle ixoracorona, the close relative of new monogeneans. The newly described monogeneans were compared with those of the families Gastrocotylidae, Chauhaneidae, Protomicrocotylidae and Gephirocotylidae. On the basis of this comparison Quilonella g. n. is assigned to the family Gephyrocotylidae Unnithan, 1966.
The genital structure of monogeneans of the superfamily Gastrocotyloidea Price, 1955 (sensu Lebedev's classification) are described herein.


On the specificity of some species of the genus Dactylogyrus Diesing, 1850. P. 466-472.
In experiment larvae of Dactylogyridae attached to unusual hosts only occasionally. In such rare cases they started to develop but failed to attain sexual maturity. When transferred to the gills of other hosts adults of D. auriculatus, D. chranilowi, D. cornu, D. crucifer, D. extensus, D. falcatus, D. nanus, D. vastator, D. wunderi and D. zandti lived there and produced eggs.


A new species of cestodes of the genus Hilmylepis (Hymenolepididae) from shrews of Bulgaria. P. 473-475.
A new species of cestodes of the family Hymenolepididae, Hilmylepis procopici sp. nov., is described. Cestodes were found in shrews of Crocidura leucodon Herm. and Cr. suaveolens Pall. in southern Dobrudzha (Bulgaria).


Migration and development of larvae of Hymenolepis nana in mesenteric lymph glands of rats. P. 476-479.
Experimental studies were carried out of the migration and development of larvae of Hymenolepis nana in mesenteric lymph glands and liver of laboratory rats after their eating of eggs of helminths. It was established that in the lymph glands larvae of H. nana can develop to young adults.


On the occurrence of Bothriocephalus gowkongensis Yeh, 1955 (Cestoda, Pseudophyllidea) in the young of Cyprinidae from the Amur river. P. 480-483.
Of nine species of the young of cyprinid fishes from the Amur, three species, Ctenopharyngodon idella (Val.), Elopichthys bambusa (Rich.), and Opsariichthys uncirostris Berg, were found to be infested with the pathogenic parasite Bothriocephalus gowkongensis. The infestation of the young with cestodes is associated with their feeding on planktonic copepods.


On variations in the blood albuminous spectrum of Viviporus contectus (Millet, 1813) (Gastropoda, Prosobranchia) caused by invasion with larval forms of trematodes. P. 484-488.
Variations in the blood albuminous spectrum in males and females of Viviparus contectus (Millet, 1813) were studied by the method of electrophoresis on agar gel. Males and females were invaded with metacercaria Neoacanthoparyphium echinatoides Odening, 1962 (Cercaria echinatoides Filippi, 1854) and Cercaria adiposa Lutta, 1934, respectively. In mollusks invaded with larvae of trematodes the concentration of albumins mobile in the negative electric field increased with decreasing content of albumins mobile in the positive electric field.


Sphaeronema rumicis, sp. n. (Nematoda, Sphaeronematidae) — the first species of this genus in Europe. P. 489-493.
A new species of Sphaeronema is described. It is a parasite of Rumex confertus Willd. in Kaliningrad district and it is the first species of this genus in Europe.
The middle size of the mature females are 280X150 mk. Lip region with two annules; the first is wider than the second. The intestine is spherical; anus on the dorsal side of the body. Vulva terminal, lips protruding. Excretory cell near the anus; the excretory pore on a level with median bulb of oesophagus. The middle size of eggs 102—105X46—48 mk. The length of the body is to length of the eggs as 2.1:1—2.3:1.
The spherical intestine, the situation of the excretory cell and the large eggs is a reason for to place the genus Sphaeronema into Sphaeronematinae (Sphaeronematidae).


Changes in the serum protein of chickens in experimental coccidiosis (Eimeria tenella and E. mitis). P. 494-500.
The paper deals with changes in the serum protein (protein, albumins, α-, β-and γ-globulins) of chickens in experimental coccidiosis (Eimera tenella and E. mitis). Data are given on the changes in biochemical indices of blood serum depending on species of Coccidia and developmental stages of the parasite.
