Casimir BolshakovDoctor of Science, Senior researcher, ProfessorE-mail: Casimir.Bolshakov@zin.ru Born on 13 October 1943 in Svirsk, Irkutsk Region, Russia. Graduated from Leningrad State University, Department of Vertebrate Zoology with a diploma of biologist-zoologist in 1973. In 1973-1976 I was a PhD student at the same department, awarded PhD in 1977. Since 1976 until present I have worked at the Biological Station Rybachy as junior researcher (1976-1986), senior researcher (1986-1992 and again since 2015), station's director (1992-2014). Doctor of Science since 1998, Professor since 2013. My main interests are in the fields of zoology, ecology, ornithology, zoogeography and bird migration. Currently I have published ca. 140 contributions in Russian and English; more than one-half of them concern nocturnal avian migration in the Baltic region and in the deserts and mountains of western Central Asia.
