| Submitted August 21, 2021 | Accepted September 27, 2021 | Summary A pelobiont Pelomyxa tarda Gruber, 1887 was isolated from a natural habitat for the first time since its original description. We examined it with the use of light, immunofluorescent and electron microscopy. P. tarda can be reliably distinguished from the other Pelomyxa spp. based on a number of characters, in particular, the morphology of the nuclei and the organization of reserve glycogen. An emended diagnosis of the species Pelomyxa tarda Gruber, 1887 is proposed.
Key words: Archamoebae, Pelomyxa, light microscopy, ultrastructure, immunofluorescent staining, microtubular cytoskeleton, glycogen
