Transport Information

PROGRAMME


Registration

Registration of participants (see the Symposium time schedule) will take place at the Zoological Institute RAS (Universitetskaya nab., 1). Registration desk is located on the first floor, just near the stairs. On arrival, all the participants and accompanying persons are to enroll personally and to pick up the Symposium bags with their Symposium documents and identification badges. Tickets for social events, lunches and excursions included into the Special Symposium excursion programme (excursion to the Hermitage, Peterhof & Pushkin tour) should be obtained at the registration desk. For those participants who come late at night on Sunday, 2 July, the registration will be extended on 3 July and will take place at the St. Petersburg State University, just near the Conference Hall.

Various announcements and current information will be placed on a bulletin board located near the registration desk at the Zoological Institute.

Publishing

Articles based on the plenary lectures of the invited speakers and abstracts of other oral presentations and posters will be published subsequently in a symposium issue of the Bulletin of the Scandinavian Society for Parasitology. For this purpose the final version of articles and abstracts should be delivered to Dr. Kirill Galaktionov at the Symposium.

Excursions

Daily excursions and tours, described in the Registration form, will be available for participants and accompanying persons. Further information will be placed at the registration desk (Zoological Institute).

Breaks

Coffee and tea will be served during coffee breaks.

Meals

Four lunches, included into the registration fee for active participants, will be served at the restaurant "Academy", located close by to Zoological Institute, during lunch hours (13.30-15.00).

Symposium banquet

The banquet will take place in the evening (19.00) on Thursday, 6 July at the restaurant “Academy”.

Messages

Messages to participants should be sent to the e-mail address of the Symposium Secretariat (see the address of the Local organizing committee), then they will be posted on the bulletin board near the registration desk at the Zoological Institute.

Public transport

St. Petersburg public transportation system operates from 6.00 to 24.00. The system consists of bus & minibus, trolley bus, tram routs and also four lines of underground railroads (“Metro”). The description of the most important for participants routs are handed out at the registration desk. You can see it also below.

Banking facilities

In Russia payment for all goods and services is to be made in the national currency, or by credit cards which are still not popular and are only accepted in better hotels, restaurants and shops. Currency exchange offices are usually open from 10.00 to 20.00 throughout the week. Large hotels provide 24-hours banking services. Money is exchanged only upon presentation of a passport.

Time

St. Petersburg belongs to the Moscow standard time zone (MST), which differs from the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT): in Summer MST=GMT+4 hours

Climate

The first half of July is the peak summer season in St. Petersburg. Generally, the weather is sunny and pleasant; however, heat waves (30° C) or rainy days cannot be excluded and temperature may drop down to about 15° C.
