A brief history of International Symposia
The 1st International Tenebrionid Symposium, entitled "Systematics and
Biogeography of Tenebrionoidea", was held in 2002 at the Zoologisches
Staatssammlung, Munchen (Germany) to honor Dr. Hans J. BremerÒs work on
tenebrionids and celebrate the museumÒs acquisition of his collection.
The 2nd International Tenebrionoidea Symposium, entitled "Coleoptera
Tenebrionoidea: Taxonomy, Biogeography, and Faunistics", was held in 2005
at the Lyon Museum (France) following the acquisition of the remarkable
tenebrionid collection of Jaroslav Picka.
The 3rd International Tenebrionoidea Symposium was held in 2013 at the Arizona
State University in Tempe, AZ, USA. It was the first time that the steering
committee organized trips pre and post-symposium for the participants. The
presentations and posters were published in a special volumen of Proceedings
of the Symposium in Zookeys with Pat Bouchard and Aaron Smith serving as
guest editors.
To continue this tradition, and encourage tenebrionid researchers from around
the world to meet, share their research, and form new collaborations, we are
hosting the 4th International Tenebrionoidea Symposium at Centro Cientifico
y Tecnologico Mendoza (CCT CONICET), in Mendoza, Argentina. The
symposium will be organized around presentations and posters which will
ultimately be published (scientific journal to be determined).
