FLEAS  (SIPHONAPTERA)

Perspectives of the AIS PARHOST1

The PARHOST1 system will develop in three directions.

The first direction is related to application of the block of geographic tables. This direction will permit accumulating and generalising primary information on flea distribution, which may be given in terms of physical or administrative geography. The PARHOST1 system will permit translating the names distribution ranges given in terms of physical geography into names expressed in terms of administrative geography.

The second direction of the AIS development envisages its integration with the block of processing of collection data and a complete realization of the block scheme given below.

The third direction will comprise creation of the block of morphological hierarchical classifiers for work on structural characters of fleas, separately and in connection with their distribution and parasite-host relations. The basis of this direction is the data on more than 150 skeletal flea structures (Medvedev, 1982; 1983; 1984; 1985; 1989; 1989a, b; 1992a, b; 1993; 1994; 1995a, b).
