The collection contains images of temporary whole mount preparations. The images were taken by confocal laser scanning microscopy. The preparations were created using immunohistochemical staining of nervous elements containing serotonin, FMRFamide, alpha-tubulin, and GABA, and histochemical staining of muscles by phalloidin. The collection includes images of the central and peripheral nervous systems and neuromuscular interactions in polychaetes from different families: Nereididae, Phyllodocidae, Syllidae, Hesionidae, Terebellidae, Sabellidae, Capitellidae and some others. The collections is constantly being expanded by new preparations, represented by new species of polychaetes and new staining methods of nervous elements. The collection is intended for those who want to learn more about the diversity of the annelid nervous system using polychaetes, the most numerous annelid class, as a case study. The collection was created at the Department of Invertebrate Zoology of the Saint-Petersburg State University and at the Laboratory of Evolutionary Morphology of the Zoological Institute RAS (ZIN RAS). The images are kept on the server of ZIN RAS (Laboratory of Evolutionary Morphology) and are available from the author.

Anterior body end of the polychete Schistomeringos japonica (Annenkova, 1937), Dorvilleidae. Musculature – red, nerve fibers (tubulin) – lilac, serotonin-containing nervous elements – green.
