David Davidovich Piriulin

Пирюлин Давыд Давыдович родился 29 сентября 1955 г. в г. Инта Коми АССР. Его отец, Пирюлин Давыд Давыдович (1900–1980), и мать Зоя Филипповна (1922–2005), находились здесь в ссылке после отбытия заключения за антисоветскую агитацию и пропаганду. В 1957 г., после окончания срока ссылки и частичной реабилитации, семья Пирюлиных переехала в г. Жданов (теперь Мариуполь) Донецкой области. В возвращении в Москву, откуда был родом отец Д.Д., власти отказали.

Piriulin David Davidovich was born on September, 29th, 1955 in Inta, Komi Republic. His father Piriulin David Davidovich (1900-1980) and mother Zoe Filippovna (1922-2005) were exiled here after imprisonment in a labour camp for anti-soviet propaganda and agitation. In 1957 after finishing the period of exile and partial rehabilitation the Piriulin family moved to the city of Zhdanov (now Mariupol) in the Donetsk region. The authorities refused to allow the family to return to Moscow, which was the native city of David Davidovich’s father.

В 1972 г. Д.Д. окончил среднюю общеобразовательную школу № 7 в Жданове и уехал в Ленинград поступать на биофак Ленинградского государственного университета. К сожалению, при поступлении Д.Д. недобрал несколько баллов и не был зачислен в ЛГУ. Для того чтобы повторить попытку на следующий год, Д.Д. поступил в Ленинградское строительное училище № 51. Через год, после окончания (с отличием) училища, он поступает в Ленинградский педагогический институт им. А.И. Герцена, на факультет естествознания. В 1975 г. под руководством своего учителя Льва Александровича Кузнецова Д.Д. впервые приезжает на остров Барсакельмес на Аральском море. Здесь он начинает собирать материал по чешуекрылым и в 1978 г. успешно защищает дипломную работу.

In 1972 David Davidovich finished secondary school No 7 in Zhdanov and left for Leningrad to enter the Faculty of Biology of Leningrad State University. Unfortunately, David Davidovich owing to some educational deficiencies was not allowed to enter Leningrad State University. The next year, David Davidovich tried again and was successful in enrolling in the Leningrad building trade school No 51. After a year of study he completed the trade school (with honors) and entered the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Leningrad Herzen State Pedagogical Institute. In 1975 under the guidance of his teacher Lev Aleksandrovich Kuznetsov, David Davidovich for the first time visited Barsakelmes Island in the Aral Sea. Here he started to collect material on Lepidoptera and in 1978 successfully defended his degree.

После окончания педагогического института Д.Д. Пирюлин по распределению работал учителем биологии, химии и географии в сельской школе поселка Таежный Архангельской области, а далее – младшим научным сотрудником в Украинском степном заповеднике. Только в начале 1980 г. Д.Д. смог реализовать свою мечту и поступить на работу в государственный заповедник Барсакельмес. Первые четыре года он здесь работал в должности младшего научного сотрудника, а в 1984 г. был назначен на должность старшего научного сотрудника. Однако через год после этого назначения Д.Д. Пирюлин вынужден был уволиться из заповедника по состоянию здоровья.

After graduating from the pedagogical Institute, D.D. Piriulin worked by assignment as a teacher of biology, chemistry and geography in a rural school in the village Taezhniy (Taiga) in the Arkhangelsk region, and further as a junior research worker in the Ukrainian Steppe Nature Reserve. Only in the beginning of 1980 was David Davidovich able to realize his dream and go to work in the Nature Reserve Barsakelmes. The first four years here he worked as a junior research worker but in 1984 he was promoted to senior research worker. However after a year D.D. Piriulin was forced to leave the reserve because of problems with his health.

В 1985–1987 гг. он работал по лимиту воспитателем в СПТУ № 251 г. Пушкина, а в 1987–1992 гг. стал воспитателем в общежитии Ленметростроя. Все эти годы он продолжал выезжать на Арал в период своих летних отпусков: Д.Д. был добровольным помощником в аральских экспедициях Института ботаники и Института зоологии Академии наук Казахстана. В марте 1992 г. Д.Д. Пирюлин был принят на работу в лабораторию солоноватоводной гидробиологии Зоологического института РАН, где прошел путь от лаборанта до научного сотрудника. Работая в ЗИНе, Д.Д. ежегодно по несколько раз выезжал на Арал и продолжал собирать материал по членистоногим. В начале 2004 г. он успешно защитил кандидатскую диссертацию по специальности «Зоология». Он стал близким другом и верным соратником сотрудников лаборатории.

In 1985-1987 he worked according to his educational qualifications as a tutor in the Secondary Trade School No 251 in the city of Pushkin near Saint Petersburg, and in 1987-1992 he was a tutor in the dormitory of Lenmetrostroy. All these years he continued to visit the Aral Sea during summer holidays: David Davidovich was a volunteer assistant in the Aral expeditions of the Botany Institute and the Institute of Zoology of the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan. In March 1992 D.D. Piriulin began his employment in the Laboratory of brackishwater hydrobiology of the Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences where he progressed from senior laboratory assistant to research worker. Working in the Zoological Institute David Davidovich several times each year visited the Aral Sea and continued to collect material on arthropods. In the beginning of 2004 he successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis in zoology. He became a close friend and trusted comrade of his laboratory colleagues.

16 января 2007 г. Д.Д. Пирюлин трагически погиб… Его тело было кремировано и, согласно воле покойного, 22 сентября 2007 г. захоронено на кладбище заповедника Барсакельмес.

On January, 16th, 2007 D.D. Piriulin tragically perished … His body was cremated and according to his will was buried in the cemetery on Barsakelmes Nature Reserve on September, 22nd, 2007.
