  • Main research areas:
    For several years I study the larval development of the White Sea bivalves together with P.A. Lezin. We developed an original technique of computer simulation of microscopic objects, which helps to obtain detailed three-dimensional model of larval shells (Flyachinskaya, Lezin, 2006). We obtained data on the development of planktonic larvae of the common White Sea bivalves. In the near-future we are going to publish the illustrated identification key of the planktonic larvae of the White Sea bivalves. I prepare a revision of the species composition of the White Sea bivalves with pelagic larvae. At the moment several new species were found. Studies were supported by grants SPbNTs (2006) and RFBR (¹ 07-04-00854).

    Together with O.V. Zaitseva I investigate patterns of morphological evolution and ontogenetic development of stomatogastric neuroendocrine system in the lower Bilateria, Nemertini and Mollusca. Research was supported by the grant RFBR ¹ 06 04 49096.
