Airport transfers on the days of arrival are included in the Symposium Fee
To avoid the unexpected occasions the detailed descriptions of the way to the Symposium residence (Zoological Institute RAS and St. Petersburg State University situated close by) and hotels – “Saint Petersburg Hotel”, “Student dormitories” (=Academy of Sciences Hotel for PhD students) and “Youth Hotel” (=St.Petersburg Pedagogical University Hotel) are described here below.
How to get to the Conference, at the Zoological Institute:
From St.Petersburg International “Pulkovo-2” Airport to Moskovskaya metro (underground) station
Take the bus No.13 or minibuses No.13, 213 to the Moskovskaya metro station. (Attention! Pulkovo-2 Airport is not the final stop of the bus No.13. Check up if you take a bus in direction to the city). During the day, buses leave about every 20 minutes. Journey time is about 10-15 minutes.
Or take a taxi to the Zoological Museum / Institute (much more expensive).
From Moskovskaya metro station to Nevsky Prospect metro station
Take the underground train to Nevsky Prospect metro station. Get off at Nevsky Prospect station (it will be the seventh station, not the final stop of the train!). Journey time is about 25 minutes. Use the exit to the Griboyedov Canal.
From Nevsky Prospect metro station to the Zoological Institute (see scheme)
Take the bus No.7 or trolley buses No.1, 7, 10 to Universitetskaya Naberezhnaya [Embankment]. Traffic stop is at the same side of Nevsky Prospect, just near the exit from the underground station. Get off at the next stop from the Hermitage and Dvortsovaya [Palace] Square, over a bridge across the Neva River – at Universitetskaya Naberezhnaya (bus No.7, trolley bus No.10) or at Birzhevaya Square (trolley buses No.1, 7). Zoological Institute is the building just looking on the bridge. Journey time is about 15-20 minutes.

Take the underground train to Tekhnologichesky Institute metro station. Get off at
Tekhnologichesky Institute station and change the train at the same platform (simply cross the platform). Get off at Ploshchad Lenina metro station. Journey time is about 30 minutes. Use the exit to Botkinskaya street.
From Ploshchad Lenina metro station to “Saint Petersburg Hotel”
About 10 minutes walk. Along Botkinskaya street till Bolshoy Sampsoniyevsky Prospect (two blocks), then turn left. Along this Prospect in direction to Pirogovskaya Embankment. The eleven-storied building at the corner on the right hand facing the Neva River is “Saint Petersburg Hotel”.

From Udel’naya metro station to the Academy of Sciences Hotel (=“Student dormitories”)
About 5-10 minutes walk. Cross Prospect Engelsa, turn right and find the building Prospect Engelsa, 65. It is the Academy of Sciences Hotel (=“Student dormitories”).

About 5-10 minutes walk. Cross Nevsky Prospect, and Kazan Cathedral will be in front of you. Behind its right colonnade starts Kazanskaya street. One of the first buildings on its left side, Kazanskaya str., 6, is St.Petersburg Pedagogical University Hotel (=”Youth Hotel”).

From “Saint Petersburg Hotel” to Ploshchad' Lenina metro station
About 10 minutes walk. Along Bolshoy Sampsoniyevsky Prospect beginning from Pirogovskaya Embankment till first turn to the right - Botkinskaya street. Two blocks along this street and you will see the pavilion of Ploshchad Lenina metro station on your left hand.
From Ploshchad' Lenina metro station to Ploshchad Vosstaniya metro station
Take the underground train to Ploshchad Vosstaniya metro station. Get off at Ploshchad Vosstaniya (it will be the second station, not the final stop of the train!). Journey time is about 10 minutes. Use the exit to Nevsky Prospect and Ploshchad Vosstaniya.
From Ploshchad' Vosstaniya to the Zoological Institute
Take the bus No.7 or trolley buses No.1, 7, 10 to Universitetskaya Naberezhnaya [Embankment]. Traffic stop is at the same side of Nevsky Prospect, just near Ploshchad Vosstaniya metro station. About 5-10 minutes walk. Coming out from the Hotel turn to the right. Udel’nayametro station is on the opposite side of Prospect Engelsa.
From Udel’naya metro station to Nevsky Prospect metro station
Take the underground train to Nevsky Prospect metro station. Get off at Nevsky Prospect station (it will be the fifth station, not the final stop of the train!). Journey time is about 20 minutes. Use the exit to the Griboyedov Canal.

Coming out from the Hotel turn to the right and reach Nevsky Prospect. Turn right and cross Nevsky Prospect opposite Kazan Cathedral. On your right hand there will be buses and trolley buses stops. Take the bus No.7 or trolley buses No.1, 7, 10 to Universitetskaya Naberezhnaya [Embankment]. Get off at the next stop from the Hermitage and Dvortsovaya [Palace] Square, over a bridge across the Neva River – at Universitetskaya Naberezhnaya (bus No.7, trolley bus No.10) or at Birzhevaya Square (trolley buses No.1, 7). Zoological Institute is the building just looking on the bridge. Journey time is about 20-25 minutes.
On foot
We recommend a walk across the historical center of the city. Reach Nevsky Prospect and turn to the left. Walk along it, the Admiralty spire will be in front of you. Nevsky Prospect opens into Dvortsovaya [Palace] Square with granite Alexander Column in its center. The huge green-and-white edifice on the Square is the Winter Palace, now a part of the State Hermitage Museum. Walk along the garden facade of the Palace to Dvortsovaya Embankment and cross the Neva River over Dvortsovy [Palace] Bridge. Zoological Institute just looks on the bridge. Walking time is about 25-30 minutes.
