Dear colleagues!

Zoological Institute RAS and the Section of Acarology of the Russian Entomological Society inform you that VIII Russian Acarological Symposium with a participation of foreign specialists will be held in Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Saint Petersburg), in the period 30 November - 2 December, 2004.

The symposium will be dedicated to ecology, biodiversity, systematics and morphology of mites and ticks, and to diverse aspects of the agricultural, medical and veterinary acarology. The length of oral presentation (lecture) is suggested to be 20 min.

Working languages. Russian, English.

Participants of the Symposium willing to make a lecture or poster presentation should submit:

a) Title of the lecture or poster and fulfilled registration form (see HTML or PDF) – up to 1 July 2004.

б) Abstract of the lecture or poster (up to 2 printed pages) and its electronic version – up to 15 September 2004.

The abstracts will be published in advance, in the Proceedings of the Symposium in Russian (abstracts of foreign participants non-speaking Russian may be submitted and published in English).

Abstract should consist of:

- Title of the presentation in Russian and English;

- Family name and initials of the author(s), organisation(s) without abbreviations, city, postal address, e-mail;

- Main text without any reference list.

Format of abstract:

Page format – A4; fields: top, bottom, and right – 2 cm, left – 3 cm; Word processor – MsWord '95, '97, 2000; font - Times New Roman, font size – 12, line space – single. Taxonomic names of specific and generic rank should be given in Italics; the first mentioning of such taxa should be provided with an author (or author and year) of respective taxon.

Registration fee for publishing the Proceedings and organizing expences – 200 Russian rubles for the participants of the Symposium (100 Russian rubles – for students and postgraduate students), and may be paid by postal transfer or by cash at the registration desk. Each fee suggests the publication of one abstract only. The Program and Invitation for the participation in VIII Russian Acarological Symposium, information about accommodation and other data will be sent long the Second Announcement.
