ABSTRACT
The paper presents list 23 species of carrion beetles. We present a modern synonyms and photo collection of species in nature. It is designed for a wide audience of both specialists and entomologist's amateurs.

INTRODUCTION
Information about occurrence of carrion beetles in Lebanon is scattered in many papers of Portevin [1,2,3,4,5,6]. No paper detailing the distribution of Silphidae in Lebanon has been published till now. Altogether, 355 specimens belonging to 22 species have been collected on more. An annotated list of the records is presented below.


MATERIAL AND METHODS
Material was provided to students and graduate students of the University St. Joseph (Beirut) passing practice in Russia. All localities (see Fig. 1) are numbered in the order (1) from west to east and (2) from north to south. Distributional maps (Fig. 1) present only localities of the material examined in this paper.
