Defended thesis on 20 December 1984.

Ph D and 'Docent'.

Member of the Entomological Society of Sweden, and Wiener Coleopterologen Verein.

Member of editory board of Aquatic Insects and Koleopterologische Rundschau.

Expeditions to South Primorye and Sakhalin in 1992 and 1993; to lakes Elton and Baskuntyak in 2001; to Don river floodplain in 2002.

Interests: taxonomy and faunistics of Dytiscidae; species delimitation problems; phylogenetic reconstruction; biogeography. Plans: taxonomical database for world dytiscidae; chapters on Dytiscidae and Noteridae in Catalogue of Palearctic Coleoptera, and Fauna Europaea.

Postgraduate students: (1) Phylogeography and molecular taxonomy of the Agabus tristis group (Coleoptera, Dytiscidae, Agabinae); (2) The evolution of secondary sexual characters in the family Dytiscidae.
