Buprestinae: Curini: Anthaxoschema Obenberger, 1923

 

Anthaxoschema carteri Thery, 1945

 

Material: Last instar. W Australia, Peak Charles National Park, 8. xi. 2001, Sv. Bily leg.

 

Forage plant: Acacia lasiocalyx (Fabaceae), under the bark of fallen trunks and branches (diameter 15-40 cm).

1. 1, 2 – Mature larva: 1 – dorsally, 2 – ventrally (L = 10.5 mm).

 

2. 1, 2 – Thoracic and 1st-3rd abdominal segments: 1 – dorsally, 2 – ventrally.

3. 1-8. Mouthparts: 1 - epistome, labrum, antennae, and epistomal sensilla (A), external (dorsal) surface; 2 – right antenna; 3 – labrum and clypeus, dorsally; 4-5 – mandibles – ventrally (4) and dorsally (5); 6 – left maxilla: cardo, stipes, mala, and maxillary palp; 7 – isolated sclerite of cardo; 8 – left maxilla: maxillary palp and mala (B – setae on internal surface of 1st segment of maxillary palp).

 

4. 1 – Mouthparts: labium, ventally. 2-4 – Spiracles: 2 – mesothoracic, 3-4 – abdominal I (3) and VIII (4). 5-8 – Thorax and abdomen, surface: 5 – pronotal plate, 6 prosternal plate, 7 – prosternal groove, 8 – setae and “microampullae” on ventral surface of abdominal segment 1.
